Sylvan Dance Academy has operated out of Kareela since 1976, when it was established by Pamela Fisher. Over the years, they have produced numerous champions through their dance classes, with a strong focus on dance education and a unique dance philosophy that continues to inspire dancers, performers, and teachers across Australia and the world.

Sylvan Academy has always welcomed dancers of all abilities and varying goals, whether it’s to dance for fun or to pursue competitive dance education. Sylvan nurtures in all of their students a love for the art of dance through our diverse dance classes. At Sylvan Academy, we believe in the transformative power of dance. Whether you're looking to learn a new style, improve your technique, or simply have fun, we have a class that aligns with our dance philosophy just for you.

In 2023, Kate Wilson assumed the role of Principal of Sylvan Academy. Starting as a pupil of Sylvan at age 4, Kate began teaching for Pam when she was 16, and they have always enjoyed a successful working relationship. With a deep passion for dance education, Kate obtained a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education in 2001 from UNSW. She thoroughly enjoys teaching dance classes to students of all ages and loves to choreograph across all styles. Her choreography has won many eisteddfods, reflecting her strong dance philosophy. Kate is supported by a wonderful team of teachers, many of whom have been pupils of Sylvan Academy themselves.
